Brown in colour and often curl up into a ball when disturbed. Woodlice are harmless to humans and animals. Large number may appear in your house gaining entry though crack, doors and windows. They prefer damp conditions

Woodlice gather in large numbers in dark, damp places, such as under decaying wood or plant debris. Removing potential sheltering places away from your home can help stop woodlice from entering your house.

You can apply a barrier treatment using a suitable insecticide that has been cleared for use against wood lice like nippon or ant powder but as you dont want to kill them. These can be in spray or powder form that is applied to the outside walls of your home. Make sure you treat any small cracks and gaps there may be and in particular the gaps around steps air vents and any damp areas

All you can do to deter them is fill any gaps in the house where they can get in with cement and mastic. There are also insecticides you can apply. If they tend to show up in one particular place in your house you should aim to get that area plugged up well. They are pretty difficult to manage though.

Round them up, pull half their legs off and place outside. Not only will those not return, but an equal number will be kept outside, helping the semi legless.
