I saw/read or both...
Lord of the Rings
Tenth Kingdom
Pirates 1 & 2
Eragon & Eldest
Harry Potter
Jason and the Argonauts
Books by Tamorah Pierce
Magic Kingdom for Sale Series
Mummy 1,2 and Scorpian King

Doesn't have to have the newest technology, just be a good movie. Books too, I haven't seen Eldest of course, but loved the book. And Harry Potter Books were better after the third for sure.

I highly recomend (Legend-starring a very young Tom Cruise),(Voyage of the Unicorn-starring Boa Bridges) and (Lady Hawk-starring a very young Matthew Broderick). Three of the best movies ever made. (Starman-with Jeff Bridges) was pretty good to if you like older movies.

Try the Edgar Rice Burroughs series. There's a whole bunch of fantasy/adventure novels that he wrote. They are old - but still entertaining.

My husband is revisiting the Dragonlance series by Margaret Weiss and Tracy Hickman. I haven't seen him read this much in years!
