Does a better idea sell better than a better marketed idea?

Worse mouse trap marketed better, initially. But eventually, the buyer learns his lesson and goes for the better mousetrap. But the manufacturer of worse mousetrap, by then, has earned its bread and either improving its mousetrap or marketing another false idea.
In short, a good marketed idea impresses a consumer more than a good product. What is more, often the buyer stays influenced for a surprisingly long period of time. If you look carefully at all the ads coming across you everyday, you will find only a handful of them as really honest - which confirms that a better marketing is all today's market is about.

sometimes yes and sometimes no. a lot of products can actually do well by word-of-mouth. i think eventually people will see that your crappy mousetrap is a piece of crap, and will stop using it...but then someone will discover the good mousetrap and tell their friends.

Neither, fair market value and product quality in addition to marketing is what sells.

Marketed better. Show a squealing mouse trapped in it. Works wonders on sales.
