The Politicians who represent us Americans geographically (Senators, Congressmen, etc...) are expected to vote based on the will of the majority of the constituents who have elected them. At times in the history of our nation what was once a crime has been made legal and vice-versa.

Unfortunately what has been happening in our federal government over the previous 6 years has not been representative of the will of the people but rather the will of the wealthy, the greedy, the corrupt and powerful corporations who employ lobbyists to persuade politicians to vote on or introduce legislation that will make them more money. Hopefully in 2008 Americans will be smart enough to elect a President who has the best interests of the people in mind rather than the greedy few. The 2006 elections gave the average American hope again that our way of life is not in jeopardy.

Not necessarily. Politicians, especially in the US, should do what they're supposed to - pass laws consistent with the original framework of the US Constitution, which does not mean spend the Treasury on Social Security, Medicare, and every pet project they can find in their home districts/states.

People wouldnt want that though, but if people wanted that, I am sure a politician would eventually push for it, but not succeed.

Side note, if you legalize crime, then it isnt crime, lol jus saying.

I must be nuts. Last time I checked, we were a REPRESENTIVE democracy.
You know, where the REPRESENTIVES...REPRESENT the will of the people.

So if 51% of the residents in my district wants any position, no matter what, guess what becomes his/her postion? PERIOD.
