Mine used to get so hot, it felt like a sunburn! I ended up putting a folded towel between my lap and the laptop to keep the heat bearable.

Yes, it can if you have sensitive skin. I have a macbook as well, and they may get pretty hot. Just make sure you clean the fan are by wiping or using compressed air to keep ventilation going. Other than getting a bit hot, don't you love the macbook. Just like the ad, Mac is the final upgrade of Vista.

I highly doubt they will burn you, but just get really hot.. the same thing happens with my Dell Inspiron notebook. I don't think a company would put out a laptop that would burn your lap. If they did, then they would have a lot of lawsuits on their hands.
BTW if you don't want it to burn, you can purchase laptop cooling pads that you can put under the laptop to keep it cool. They keep your laptop (and your lap cool) AND they help elongate the life of your laptop. :D

Theres been a lot press in the last year about some Lithium ion laptop batteries overheating due to faulty construction, sometimes bursting into flame.

Check out the new inexpensive laptop coolers. If you wear 100% cotton it seems to be not as bad as a polyester blend that has left my legs looking like they are sunburned. Most laptops allow you to set the cooling fan to run all the time. This setting is in the bios. Check your manufacturers site for instructions to enter the bios.

Hi Kristina B,
My Macintosh Titanium PowerBook gets pretty darned hot on my lap too. I can have it on my lap, but it's not worth being uncomfortable. I also have a small wooden board that I can place the TiBook on as a little insulator. Protect yourself, Kristina.

specific laptops have been nicely-known to burn peoples legs. that's via not having ideal airflow with the aid of its vents placed on the backside of your pc. The fan would be unable to blow out the warm air so it builds up in the truly pc itself. So blocked vents skill no airflow, no airflow skill warm pc, warm pc skill burns thighs.
