Its not that we forget but your brain pushes the information further back into your mind . think of it as a filling cabinet

Well sometimes forgetfulness is a blessing in disguise from God. Sometimes memories are suppressed to protect us. I do not agree with many psychologist that living through the experience helps relive the pain. I am one of very few practicing Christian Professors that believes you should turn it over to the Lord and have faith that he will take care of it.
He takes care of the Lillie's in the field and birds in the air, how much more does he love you. When you forget think about it like this, maybe God wants you to move on.

If you want to remember things that you would normally forget like formulas or algebraic equations or whatever, you brain has to derive some kind of pleasure when it thinks of them. You dont memorize a song because you do it over and over again. You memorize a song because you like the song, and it creates endorphines in your brain which in turn make you feel pleasure. And thats when you decide to do it over and over again. You have to translate whatever it is you want to remember into personal benefit. Give your mind a reason to integrate these things into everyday life and they will become attached to your daily thought patterns. A new memory will be formed every day with these things associated with them and you wont have to toil to remember them.

Repetition is necessary in order to commit anything to memory. You learn the lyrics to your favorite songs by playing them over and over. Liken formulas to various songs, poems, rhymes, catch phrases etc. to remember them. good luck
