I've bungee jumped which I thought would overcome my fear but didn't work. But I love of the rush which overcomes the fear so I guess I have overcome the fear so to speak.

I think it is mostly because I'm afraid of falling. When I'm in an airplace, I picture it crashing and me falling to my death. When I'm in a tall building I picture an earthquake coming and me falling to my death (and yes, I'd rather have the building fall on top of me than me fall to my death). When I'm around people who are sitting on the edge of a cliff, I picture them slipping and falling to their deaths . . . its not fun (irrational though it is--I always have to tell myself that). I don't care much for the adrenaline rush when I fear falling to my death in the most horrible way possible (to me). So that's why I'm afraid of heights.

It's not so much height I'm afraid of, it's the fear of falling.

Somehow I can tolerate extreme heights but I hate the ladders at work. Too wobbly!!!
