When I was little, in the late fifties and early sixties, we used to go on family trips that way. Usually to visit relatives. But we went from Dallas to Chicago and on to Indianapolis a few times. Ate in the dinning care, had nice big seats, and even a sleeper berth for nights. I remember it being a lot of fun.

Yes. When I was in Russia I went on a 30 hr. train ride from Moscow to Ufa, which is where I was teaching English. It was a long trip, especially since I get motion sickness easily, but it was generally a fun experience nonetheless.
I also went on a dinner train with my family in Pennsylvania. That was really fun.

Been on a few, 2 are the Blue Train that runs from j'burg to cape town in South Africa and a country link train that runs from Sydney to Melbourne.

Yeah, from Heidelberg to Bremen. And from Karlsruhe to Munich and back on a sonder zug (Holiday train). Also the blue, green and red trains between Seoul and Taegu.

take the train into the city...it's the only way to get there. anyone is crazy to drive.

that's new york city.

i only every take the train to the fireworks in red bank for the 4th and into the city.

while I was living in Bulgaria the train was the main & cheapest mean of transportation

also been on a train to Germany, to Hungary, to Romania... many places

It was a great ride up until we were held at gunpoint, and they took all our money. I should mention I was at Knotts Berry Farm in Buena Park Ca. at the time.
