when i open windows media player and go to "copy songs from cd" , they're not listed, Im guessing cause theyre from a mp3 cd rather than a normal audio cd. How do I get the songs onto my computer?

Have you tried to simply go to Windows Explorer and copy them from the CD to a folder on your hard drive? If that works then you can play them from the folder. You are correct that CD "ripping" is the process of turning a cda file into an mp3 file so it is looking for the cda file. Since these are mp3...no need to rip.
