I was diagnosed with scoliosis at age 15. I was already done growing, so a brace was not an option for me. Since scoliosis tends to progress slowly throughout life, my first advice is to be cooperative about the brace. If it can stabilize your back or halt the progression, believe me it will be worth it. I know from friends that the braces are not exactly pleasant and comfy, but they really help in the long run. My second advice is to be as active as you can. It will help to keep the muscles around the spine strong and keeps the blood circulating well to heal any irritated areas. Yes, you will have some risks beyond that of people with perfect spines, but you have to do what you love to keep your spirit healthy. You will come to know your body well eventually and you will learn to eliminate activities that are causing pain or you will find a way to modify the way that you do them so that you can keep doing them. Do what you love while you can. You body will tell you with pain if what you are doing becomes too much.

Scoliosis is solely having extra curvature within the backbone than usual. It is not a disorder and it does not motive issues except the curvature is severe or advancing, or else it's not anything greater than an outline of the form of your backbone. It's nonetheless a well proposal to get it checked via a document at your age due to the fact scoliosis can also be corrected even as anybody is a teenage, however it can't be corrected later in existence.

Yes you can still run. If the doctor has recommended that you wear a brace, PLEASE DO. It's very important. My scoliosis was not found until I was 17 and a half and done growing, so a brace was not an option for me. After physical therapy didn't help, my only option was surgery. Which I took. Scoliosis continues to progress throughout your life, without my surgery, my spine would most likely continue to curve, and begin to push on my organs.
Talk with your doctor about your personal options and limitations. My doctor wanted me to be as active as I could. Just continue to do what your doing, and have your curve remeasured regularly.
Good Luck.

You should talk to your doctor. You should wear the brace and don't be scared. I understand how you feel. I'm also 14 and I was diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome when I was 13. I've had 6 surgeries since that has happened, and I've learned that following your doctors orders and having a good attitude is one of the best things you can have.

running is not a problem. but if you are going to be in a brace, it would be very pleasant.
If you want to be athletic and wear brace, i'd suggest that you should check out Spinecor... http://www.myscoliosis.net
It's built for athletes...
