dividing by any number is the same as multiplying by its reciprocal. 3 1/4 = 13/4
So 26 x 4/13 = 8

Hi, if you have to do the working out you first have to turn the fraction into an improper fraction (a bigger number on the top than the bottom)
The best way to turn 3 1/4 into improper is to think of 3 as 3 lots of 4/4 OR (3*4)/4 which is 12/4 so you already have a 1/4 so add that to the 12/4 so we can say that 3 1/4 = 13/4 (the quick way to do this is to just do 3 * 4 + 1 and then put it over 4)
Anyway
so now you have
26 divided by 13/4
When doing divided by a fraction you do whats called "invert and multiply" which means you can change the divided by symbol to a times IF you flip the fraction over (this only works when it's all together as one - thats why in this case you needed to turn it into an improper fraction)
so you can say
26 X 4/13
Then you just times the top (26 * 4)13 = 104/13 = 8
