Ok people at school keep calling me emo just because i wear skinny jeans... and listen to alternative rock, but does that make me emo?

the only thing that makes you emo is your own personality... not the way you dress! that is just a steretype! Keep wearing your skinny jeans and rockin out to alternative rock... if you are emo awesome, if your not awesome! you are who you want to be.
Only you hold the definition to yourself.

People have a stereotype of what emo is. It depends on how you wear skinny jeans. Maybe when people look at you they associate you with the emo look, even if your not an emo. I wear skinny jeans but I am not emo I wear skinny jeans in a very girly manner.

You should not be concerned with labels. I should know, because people always label me as "weird" and another guy, cause he has a ool hairstyle as "emo". These labels are just a way for ppl to exclude you from society because you are not considered "normal". This of course is a load of crap, sicne you are a human being with feelings and just because you don't follow the crowed and wear what everybody else wears, does not make you in any way "emo" or any other sort of stereotype.

Whats wrong with being an emo boy!!? emo boys are hawt! lol. (thats what i think.... i listen to emo music and i luv the emo boys lol) but anyways if you dont like being called emo well ignore them thats all you can do. but really its no big problem. if your not emo then wearing skinny pants doesnt make you emo (are they boy pants tho or are they actually girl pants?) cuz if your wearing girl pants an you listen to emo music then ya you might be emo but if you dont listen to emo music at all then you might not be emo. hey just ignore them ok. just cuz they are labeling you as an emo doesnt mean you really are one (i am kinda an emo, some people call me emo i dont object cuz i do listen to emo music and like emo boys and stuff lol) labels are kinda stupid but if you label your self thats not stupid i think your the only one who has the right to label yourself no one else! ok? be proud of who you are and what you like. dont change for any one but yourself. edit: i hate when someone asks a question on here about emos and all they get is stupid answer like "Go cut yourself" and "emo guys are gay" ok cuz they are all wrong not all emos cut an not all emo guys are gay even if they wear tighter pants or girl pants that other guys dont wear! omg!

and "emo" is being exposed to much in this goddam world. like everybody and they momma know what it is. and they sterotype .. everybody is emotional it's normal to be a bit emotional BUT
personally i dont think it does. u are just expressin ur self in the way u dress i wear skinny jeans but i wear em super tight and no i am not "emo"
people these days its like saying if a "black person wears baggy jeans" that makes them a drug dealer or thug..
its just pointless

emo is short for emotional. emo bands wear skinny jeans and have trendy hair. Alternative music can be in disguise as Emo, or screamo.

No...look up emo on google or something...skinny jeans does not make you emo...Fallout Boy does...
seriously though...emos wear eyeliner and whatnot...and youll notice that they wear more than just skinny jeans...in other words, you are not emo
