I am standing in a dusty church parking lot, when the sky begins to turn blood red and the clouds seem to fly past the steeple. I am left feeling powerless and overwhelmed in this dream because something seems wrong and there is nothing I can do to fix it. Any ideas on what this dream could possibly mean?

You are fearing the future and your ability to be able to face/ cope/ meet the challenges it brings.
You probably have kids entering older childhood or becoming teens, and you are worried you don't have what it takes and don't really have any answer.
Obviously, you were concerned enough about the dream to ask about it, so when it occurred you probably woke with a very bad feeling.
Basically, the dream is a revelation of your hiddden insecurity and inferiority; though in reality you have no reason for these feelings- yet you are concerned.

Remember this: Dreams reflect real life experience. In other words, your experience in life as a whole: Your thoughts, Beliefs, Actions, and Perceptions about situations will all play a major affect in your dreams. Now when you see the church how do you feel about the church? What have you thought about the church in the past? What's your opinion of it? When you find the answer to this, you will be directly queued up with the meaning behind this dream. Clearly this is something metaphorically religious. This will explain why and in what sense you actually feel powerless because of. If you like the church and simply have perceivably commited sin in the eyes of the church then this could be fear of what the church believes happens to sinners. If you doubt the church perhaps you're feeling guilty because everyone you know believes in it. Perhaps just the simple knowledge of what the church believes will happen at the end is traumatizing. Perhaps the idea of a god controlling your world in general is a troubling thought to you. You'll know the answer when you do this.

You are challenged in life, by whatever means, and you feel powerless against it. Life seems to be passing you by and it frustrates you. perhaps you have an internal religious conflict that you wish to resolve and are finding issue in doing so.
Dreams are always a manifestation of those problems we do not focus on during the waking hours. Consider what the color red generally represents..death (change) danger, a warning.
The dusty parking lot might also represent a feeling that you have left your spiritual journey behind, or that you feel god has left you powerless on your own?

Are you a religious person? Do you attend church with a steeple or is that a vision that hasn't had presence in your life?
My interpretation:
You may be feeling overwhelmed by something in your life that you are currently unable to maintain to your normal standards. That your emotions are being tossed and whipped around every which way and you don't know which direction to look next to get a grip on things. Looking up to the sky is a common human activity when we are confused or exasperated, even if we aren't religious. It's a search for clarity and direction. Red usually means that we have an anger that we can't either control or cannot control in others.
Take a moment to look at your current situation and ask yourself what could be bothering you that you really are frustrated with and want to finalize quickly.

You know yourself & your life better than we do so you can probably guess better than we could. What does church represent to you? Are you religious? Do you go to church? Have you stopped? Have you turned away from your faith? A church could represent God or a wedding or funeral or any ceremony. There is obviously something in your life that is overwhelming you...

You might just of had indigention and had a weird-bad dream.
Or, you are feeling spiritually lacking and feeling like you need to fix things and you are frustrated becasue you know that you have little control over many things in life.

Are you questioning your Church and you feel guilty? Did something bad happen at church or that you're afraid to tell church community. Church communities say they're not judgemental and gossipy, but they are. Maybe you're afraid of that part of church.
