I'm in the film industry and would like to know who watches what. I'm trying to get a script done but I need to know which genre is the most popular. And if you say gory horror, I'm gonna kill you. Give me something serious here please.

Thanks and have a nice day.

LOL!

Hire a marketing analyst. The "gory horror" movies you deride have some of the highst "paid ratios" of all movies, particualary on the low end.

So, when you get real, let me know.

Historical war/strugle with sci fi fantasy and sorcery. I wish there were more movies derived from myth and mythology. Not really into the space ship movies, but love the Lord of the Rings, Eragon etc, Harry Potter etc, Troy, Spartacus, Pirates etc, Cut-throat Island, Mummy etc and The Scorpian King, Jason and the Argonots, The Tenth Kingdom, The Gladiator, Boondock Saints
Just a few. Comedies are good too, everyone needs a laugh! Lots of people like who did it, I am a little tired of predicting what happens next on these tv shows. Not a day goes by with out tons of CSI, Missing, Law and Order, you know them alllllll. Used to like them a lot, but I like escaping into fantasy better.
Good luck.

something bizarre and out there. Not like Eraserhead, but Edward Scissorhands, or V for Vendetta(okay that's not really a lot to go on).

I want to get into the film industry, but i'm only 14 and my scripts suck. I have about a second cold war were scientists have genetically created a breed of chickens that can survive nuclear radiation. People start eating it and start mutating because they used cockroach DNA in the chickens.

If you use that give me credit, but why would you want to?

i pretty much like everything except for horror.
i like a movie that will have me saying, "OMG, i can believe it!" a movie that has a twist at the end. or a movie that will make you laugh your pants off.
if you're looking for a script, look for a script that is unique and people won't probably know what is going to happen at the end. Doesn't neccessary have to be a mistery. It can be a comedy or any other types of movies. any movie you choose make sure you make the audience hooked from the beginning to the end.

Who dunnits or suspense/crime dramas are my favorite. These are generally the only type of movies that I will spend money to see at a theatre. I gather that I'm not the only one that enjoys these types of genres...just look at all the popular tv shows...Law & Order, Without A Trace, CSI, Crime Stories, True Crime...etc......I must also say that a good comedy is also enjoyable for a change of pace.
Good luck to you.

I love watching the Chinese films directed by Lee. They have a good storyline, creative costumes, artistic direction and good background music too. It also carries a good strong message of good and bad and is exotic.
What I don't like in Hollywood movies anymore - too many surgically altered actors/actresses on the big screen. I spend my time thinking whatever they are doing to themselves they should stop

Gory

(Before I read the details of your question.)

Give gory a shot. Add a little comedy or whatever you like. Don't be a afraid.

Gory! Gory! Gory!

Personally, I like stuff that makes me laugh. I loved the Pink Panther series, for instance. The Monty Python films are good, too. Cleverly funny movies are best.

I don't like 'dark' movies, scary movies, or violent ones that show people dying, drowning, being shot, etc.

Darkly lit creepy horror like, The Thing or From Beyond. And that is a serious answer.

I really like horror, whether you agree or not.
But my second favorte would be a thriller/drama/mystery.
Something twisted, not gory, a mind thinker.
