>;-) 'Cause we're special. We have the friendliest and most welcoming people. We have relatively nice weather, not too hot or not too cold. We have a huge diversity of landscapes....west Texas has deserts and cactus, east Texas has pine forests and there's everything in between. We have a terrific state fair with Big Tex and Fletchers' Corny Dogs! Texas isn't part of "the south", we are where the west begins. We have a state constitution with less restrictions than any of the other states because we entered the US by treaty rather than by annexation......our flag can fly at the same height as the US flag, our capitol building is taller than the US capitol building and no other state is allowed that, we retained the right to secede from the union if we want (and sometimes I wish we would), and we can even divide ourselves into 5 states if we want.
Plus, we have the Dallas Cowboys. You can have Jerry Jones, though.

Because you probably live there! That's why I think California is awesome (although Hong Kong is the most awesome [heheh]), because practically all my family comes from there!

It might be, if you like extreme scorching heat, poisonous snakes, fireants, hiding out after sunset to keep from being shot at or mugged and overcrowded neighborhoods with extremely high rents and very few English speeking people and very little green vegitation. I would say awful, not awesome!

You must be just visiting...
Have lived here for 36 years and hate it! No color, only weeds. Cracks in the ground as big as earthquakes can create. Hotter than h_ll! Too crowded and like the other answerer there are too many wet-backs who don't speak English!
One more thing, people are RUDE here!!
