My mom is sick and tired of men- all men. I can understand that, because she has been through h**l with men. I have too, but I want to move on with my life and remarry. What would be a kind way to tell my mom that I just can't let her perceptions control how I handle my relationships with men?

You don't have to convince her. This is not a contest to find out who is right. Just say: "Look, mom, I know how you feel about men, and I can even understand why you feel that way. But you have to understand that each of us has to follow her own heart, and if I want to give this whole relationship-with-the- opposite-sex idea another go, it would be really great if you could be supportive. I'd hate for us to drift apart over a difference of opinion when we can so easily just agree to disagree on this one."

Just don't let her perceptions control how you handle your relationships with men. Do whatever you are going to do. You don't have to tell her...actions speak louder than words....and will be kinder this way.

i think most men are typical. i have friends and they're all the same. they want the same things, do the same things, and i really cant see them changing. if you want sex with random girls at 17 why wouldnt other girls fancy your eye after ure married at 25. but i think there are are good guys out there. sometimes i feel that there are two kinds of people. the frat boy that is partying in his fraternity and doesnt want kids. then theres the guy whose in the corner of the library doing calculus that is really sweet caring and loving and wants to marry and have kids and be faithful and all that. girls dont look at him b/c they want someone whos "cool" and fun. me personally, i want to be both...i want to join a fraternity and party but i definately want someone special. i want to make someone happy that i cared for them years before i met her and saved myself just for her and i'd hope she'd do the same. so i def. think you shuold tell her there are men out there that do want to care for a spouse and raise kids and be faithful - u just have to find that guy. this is a korny example, but i remember as a kid only liking red skittles. i had to look through all the ohter colors to find the red ones. same way, if u want a caring and loving husband u have to weed out the men that think with their p**** and find a guy that thinks with his heart. good luck.
