This morning when I went to use the bathroom I was bleeding a bit, I would typically be starting my period right now, but I've always, every period had bad cramps, this time I haven't had any what so ever nor have I even felt like I was on my period. I've also been having horrible mood swimgs as well as back pains. When I typically have my period I bleed so heavy that I complete a regular size tampon in about 4 hours and I've have the same tampon in for about 8 hours now and I've hardly bled. I've been having unprotected sex, and I've been trying to get pregnant for the last 5 months. Could this be a positive sign to being pregnant? I really need to know because I smoke and I want to stop immediately if I could be pregnant ...

although I've been trying to get pregnant...I haven't even thought about it for 2 months now since I haven't had any results(probably because of my smoking) so I doubt it is my imagination. I just happened to come across this thinking because it seemed to out of normal not to have any cramps (thats a first). Also, reading the the paper out of the tampon box longer than 8 hours is bad it really hasn't been quite that and I just changed that I was estimating, It hasn't been quite that long.

First of all it is 2am where I am, I can't exactly go out and get a pregnancy test right yet, so that doesn't make me irresponsible, second of all I'm in the process of trying to quit smoking...I was explaining that this was out of the normal and I wanted to know if it was related to pregnancy. Also, I just went to the doctor three weeks ago and I wasn't pregnant so I was wonderng if this could be a sign of recent fertilization, that way I COULD schedule and appointment. I was thinking last night I should be starting my period soon then when I went to use the bathroom this morning not even paying attention I noticed an odor and when I looked I had bled a bit. Could this mean a miscarriage? = / I forgot to include that detail.

Whether you're pregnant or not, you should stop smoking now since you intend on becoming pregnant. You don't want to add issues to being pregnant, it's more than enough to deal with on it's own! You could be pregnant, simply because you said you've been having unprotected sex, but I'd definitely get in to see an OBGYN immediately. Bleeding can be normal while pregnant, but it can also mean there's a problem. Sometimes women need help maintaining their pregnancy in the beginning, and there are ways to prevent miscarriage if you get treatment early on. In the meantime, STOP using tampons if you think you may be pregnant. Use pads...tampons can cause infection, and there's an even higher risk if your pregnant.

There's honestly no way for us to tell you if you're pregnant unless we're doctors doing an exam on you....

I understand you can't exactly go out and get a test, but as soon as you can, you need to. Heck, at 2am, some Walmarts are open if you really need to know NOW. :P

If you're trying to concieve, you need to stop smoking asap. And good luck getting pregnant if that's what you want to do. :)

You could be - stop smoking and get a home pregnancy test. Also, you should not use a tampon for that long especially if it is too absorbent for your flow - if you are pregnant, you don't want toxic shock syndrome. Use a pad while you are bleeding until you know one way or another.

Why don't you just take a pregnancy test? You can either get it over the counter, or visit your family doctor or a clinic and they can administer it. Good Luck..!
*I don't think back pains or mood swings are early symptoms of pregnancy.

quit smoking, start taking vitamins, and map out your cycles so that you learn your body and when you are and arent fertile. go take a pg test but more than likely your not pregnant. good luck!

Are you serious???.. how old are you and why can you not afford to buy a pregnancy test? If you can't do that you shouldn't be thinking about bringing a child into the world ... Shame on you!!! Go to your local planned parenthood or walgreens and get a test.
