I am not technically hard of hearing but I do have some hearing loss as well as tinnitus. I have been friends with several deaf people but never dated any of them simply because the only time I was single and so was the guy, he was gay. My sign language is very limited because what little I know was from babysitting an autistic and deaf toddler but I'd be happy to learn more. In the meantime, a lot can be communicated non-verbally and if necessary you can pass notes just like junior high.

My boyfriend and I are both deaf. I was not born deaf, I have gradually lost my hearing as I've gotten older. He was born deaf. We were both raised orally (meaning that we went to regular schools and neither of us signed) but I am now a teacher for deaf kids and fluent in ASL. (My boyfriend is fluent as well). I think that as long as you have a way to maintain open communication and you keep an ipen mind, then there shouldn't be an issue as to whether you're dating a deaf kid or a hearing kid or a kid who is purple w/ blue polka dots.

why not, if ur that conceded then u don't deserve anyone, I don't know if u have those big dumb looking hearing aids or not, not to sound offensive, but they are, I have a good friend that has them, I help him alot, because mostly he reads lips, and alot of people don't enounciate, so he looks toward me to repeat what is said, people make fun of him and stuff and its just like what if ur problem, he didn't choose to be that way, its not like when he was born he decided to grab the deaf card, just to be different. Its not his fault. So, yes I would date someone that is.

Very tough question. im not hard of hearing or def. but i dont think i would date one. it would REALLY complicate things and make it harder to tell that person how u feel.

Yeah, I will. Its really unfair if you treat them as something else.
