Early 90's movie/TV movie. The lead male role was a cartoonist who got sucked into his own story as the dectective... he fell in love with the bombshell babe who had a thing for black irises... It was one of my favorite movies when I was younger but I cannot for the life of me recall what it was!!!!

I'm pretty sure you're thinking of Cool World (1992), starring Brad Pitt in an early role as the cartoonist/detective and Kim Basinger as the bombshell.
