i stoped cussing about 3 months ago and i found that replacement words didn't work...you'll always slip and say the actual word if they sound pretty similar...i just started getting my friends to catch me on it and tell me if i used a cuss word when i didn't mean to and as a result i started thinkin about what i was saying before i said it and now after 3 months i don't have to think about what i say anymore

Try to make up a word yourself in the place of the cuss word. As you get more and more used to the word you invented, you'll cuss less and less.

Don't use replacement cuss words it will become very LAME.
Or don't even use it at all.
e.g.someone suggested replacing the "F" word with "far out". that becomes very corny.
The swear words actually DO have it's place in our culture and in our language, just don't abuse using it as a habit. use it only when it's at the right time and only when it's neccessary. it will bring out it's essence.

My grandmother used to use 'sugarplum' when she didn't want to cuss in front of the kids.
Personally, I like the long pause followed by 'not nice word' for the cute factor.

Just say nothing at all. When you become upset, or whenever you are about to curse. Say nothing. Move on, take a couple breaths and move on. After a while you will find yourself losing the urge to curse and no longer want to.

Bollocks! Learn to curse in British if you're in the US. It gets right past the censors on primetime TV in the US, so why the bloody hell not?
(by the way, "bloody hell" is extremely rude in England)

What we did to stop swearing was to put a rubberband around our wrists. When we caught ourselves swearing, we snapped the rubberband...it's pretty effective!
