I have ran into several people that brag about material things, Why do you think someone would feel the need to do this? I was told by someone that people that brag are not use to havin "things" what do you think?

There is nothing with being proud of your accomplishments but at the same time you should always be humble.

well, some ppl are pathological liars. they feel, they haven't made a good dinner, they brag about something more grand. they haven't done anything good the whole day, they brag. but some are material people and they look down on other, so they brag. they are not confident about their selves, so they dwell upon the things they have. i hope u got ur answer.

I hate when people are like this - i really think from the ones i know, they have some insecurity issues / low self esteem,etc. You might look at these people and think they have it all - but deep down they are not happy people! ( most - generally speaking! )
If you are a full rounded happy person you would have no reason to brag about material things. I have a friend that does this- she has a lot / more then me, but i know she is not happy - it is all a show!

If you really want to know, read Meditation by the Roman Emperor, Marcus Aurelius.
Briefly, he says that to know a person, you must understand his nature; know what he covets; find out what he does to obtain the things he wants.
His nature, his personality usually fits into 1 of 3 types, driven by fame, driven by power, driven by wealth. There is a very small 4th group driven by Adrenalin, the mountain climber..
So, by having things, do you think they are saying that they are successful? Then maybe they are driven by wealth.
See what you can learn by reading and learning from our ancestors.

What is said is right on. People who are not used to having nice things brag a lot. I think its because it makes them feel better to know that they are not less than anyone else. Ironically, begging makes them less.

Because they are insecure about themselves. By bragging that are trying to convince themselves that they are worth something

True-either they have never had such things so to them it is still a novelty-or they are just plain insecure and need to reiterate their greatness & things that they have to others so they will think highly of them....SAD!
