So I overthink things waaaaay to much. I sit down and spave out and think about everything. What Ill be doing the next day, what Ill be doing three weeks from now, what Ill watch on tv the next day, who I'm going to talk with tomorrow. I mean I sometimes even go over possible conversations in my head with people I'm going to talk with?! Its never really bothered me all that much actually, but lately it has. See this girl I like I asked out and she kinda shut me down. I was told by everyone who knows me that I just overthink things waaay to much, and I just need to start going with the flow. I just wish I could... I just cant help... thinking lol about everything. Once I thought sooo much I felt my head would explode, so in about 15 minutes I sat down and typed out 2 pages in 12 point font just about me, things going on around me. What I plan on doing everything! I want to stop it. I don't want to be the guy whos 25 and never has had a girlfriend because he overthinks things too much.

Actually... I have that problem too.

Except I'm a 17 year old girl.

You, my friend, are neurotic. How to stop it? You make a conscious decision not to think so much. To relax. To go with the flow. Etc.

It's hard but, you get used to it. The thinking about not thinking so much part. I haven't really gotten over it, but then again, I haven't been trying for that long.

Just learn to chill out and wing it!

What you're doing now is overthinking your overthinking. And I'd find out why the girl shut you down before assuming it's because you "overthink." All my friends think I'm a drama queen that cries to much and too easily...they're right, I am. Yet I found a husband. Twice!

It almost sounds like you need something to calm you down enough so that you can focus. I am no Doc but this seems like it would be pretty easy to control with, first a diagnosis.
You are not losing your mind. Just visit a Dr. and find a "plan"
to get this under control. I can't imagine how you can sleep with all those racing thoughts. What a horrible way to live.
Go get help, and tell them exactly what you have said here.
And don't overthink it - JUST GO!!!

You're not neurotic. There are 10 neuroses and you present with symptomology of none of them.
You don't have too much free time since this will happen to you lying in bed trying to fall asleep.
A Chinese cow's horn...there's an idea... Amazing
And that last guy sounds like the Dali Lama: "settle down the activities in your life and peace out during down-times through-out the day/night when is your waking state",
....except he hasn't really said anything.
How about this: Meditation with an SSRI med. like paroxetine will do the trick. And tell your doctor about this and what I have suggested. And PLEASE stop trying to get medical advice here. Plenty of well meaning yet untrained people are too ready to give you their opinion and pass it off as fact here.

Vigorous exercise can clear your head. Do you run? I ran a marathon last year for the first time, and I think this kind of training toward a specific goal can really focus you. Exercise will help you sleep better, and will channel that nervous energy. Plus, if you sign up for local 5K, 10K, or half marathon races, you can meet lots of healthy, fit girls!! No, you do not have a disorder; you just have a lot of extra energy that needs to be directed toward something positive and useful.

because you are a thinker. and you are a serious thinker in serious thought.

disorder is a confused state of creation. more or less persistent.

more or less self-injurious.

but you would need to realize that thinking is a strength of your own to manage ... eventually....and now.

settle down the activities in your life and peace out during down-times through-out the day/night when is your waking state.

establish thought to realize and order valueable self-management focus/practices...this is prioritizing....living evaluations.

settle confusions down ... <<<....for very many in present society is a necessary reminder.

for many have the cerebral aptitudes to over-think...be self/other critical.

crisis..?.....what crisis...?

prioritize living mind feeling embodiments and experiences consciously ......peaceably.

....****.....thanx doc......and i make sound recommendation....tho' not the dalai lama . but....we may be distant cousins. i'll check into it. someday. when i find out how.

My wife is Chinese - she has a saying about doing that kind of stuff. 'Don't enter the cow's horn'.
In other words, a cow's horn is like a funnel, and if you start spinning around inside of it you will just go faster and faster and further and further down. You already seem to think it is ridiculous to do. Just realize you are doing it and see the humor in it - try and laugh it off.
