Former President Clinton was impeached after events that were completely unrelated to politics. Bush has arguably tested the furthest boundaries of democracy and the American way and still hasn't had his peers definitively bring his leadership and decisions into question. I don't follow politics as closely as I'd like to so I figured I'd see what everyone has to say.

After reading a few of the answers, I feel some clarification should be made. Many believe that the president and his cabinet's apparent corruption, fabrication of facts, secret prisons, torturous acts, and what could be called an unjust war to be grounds for impeachment proceedings.

Oh - and I almost forgot the wiretapping. That's definitely an invasion of our liberties and completely unlawful.

Impeachment procedures can only be brought to bear if a person is suspected of treason, bribery, and other high crimes and misdemeanors. Bush has not been impeached because many government officials fear they may be targeted for investigation.

In the history of the United States, only three presidents have endured the process of impeachment: two were vindicated, Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton, and one resigned before
any action could be taken.

Impeachment procedures are lengthy, and require almost unanimous support of the House of Representatives and the Senate. You and I may believe that President Bush has committted treason, bribery, other high crimes, and misdemeanors; but, unless the majority of "elected" governmental officials believe, Bush will not be impeached.

He will leave office and receive hundreds of thousands of dollars as a speaker at graduation ceremonies at Yale, Harvard, and Stanford. Corporations like Ford, IBM, Halliburton, Toyota, will pay $100,000 for him to address their national meetings.

If the Girl Scouts of America could afford his fee, he would be speaking to them!

You cannot impeach a President just because you feel he is doing a bad job. There must be an unlawful act committed. At that time there can be an Impeachment process in the House of Representatives. If the house impeaches the President the Senate then has a trial to remove the President from office.

President Clinton, who was impeached by the House and left in office by the Senate is a good example of how the two sides can differ.

i could would desire to assert that this is because of the fact the Republicans have a majority on the full government, all 3 branches. whilst Clintons impeachment complaints got here approximately in 1998 i've got faith yet would be unable to be for specific that Republicans have been on top of issues or not, i think of they have been nonetheless. If that's actual than you would be able to desire to make certain why those contributors of the Grand Ol occasion does not want to objective and impeach certainly one of their own. in case you inquire from me all of it is going back to that fateful day that i in my opinion do not want to advance, nicely extra after that than something whilst the President spoke for all individuals and desperate to pass after the terrorists. of direction for the reason that then he has long previous directly to do issues that have been on his own time table, and it may look to me the media has been his best best buddy different than for Tony Blair. He gets loopy media insurance that makes him out to be a Ghandi or mom Teresa scuffling with the terrorists of the international, in the hearts of Iraq (that final I knew did not have any of those WMD's he so adamantly reported they did). specific Saddam grew to become right into a creepy character that did carry out a little ethnic cleansing or regardless of you want to call it, and we are actually prosecuting him for that. yet assume for a 2nd in case you will that the the remainder of the international gets ill of the flaws that usa of america is doing, distinctly lots being the bully of the international in case you inquire from me. impulsively they invade us and do what we've performed to such a number of different international locations for many of our life as a united states. in case you inquire from me that's the only way he would be impeached. i understand I veered off the unique question yet I stored it on the tip.

President Clinton lied under oath this is a crime. President Bush has not committed any crimes to this point. How much more simple must it be explained before you can impeach a President he must personally break the law!!!!!!!!!!! Until that happens impeachment will not happen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe he could be for staying in Iraq without Congress ever declaring war. You would think he could for refusing to enforce our immigration law, but apparently that isn't a crime.

Clinton became even more popular with the people during his Impeachment hearings... -Do we REALLY want that to happen with Bush..? Better to let him serve out his time, and then disappear into the Texas sunset...-to be forgotten, like a bad dream... :)

He's a man of principle, and there's been no crime committed! Clinton lied under oath, (among other things), and that's perjury which is a federal crime... especially for one who holds the highest office in the land!

Because he has done nothing to warrant it. Clinton committed a felony (lying under oath); Bush has committed no crime.
