It depends on the situation. It gives me the most anxiety when I feel someone's feelings may get hurt.

No. Sometimes it has to be done expecially if I'm having some kind of problem with another person. The only way to solve it is to get things out in the open is to confront them. I would rather confront them then let the situation get out of hand. Open communication is better than talking behind someone's back & allowing the problem to worsen.

I don't love it, but I'm not afraid of it. I believe that if something is important and needs to be resolved, the problem must be confronted. If I can keep it from becoming a fight, I will.

Somewhat. ^_^

I know that with the Internet being what it is, *everybody* feels bolder and their tongues loosen right up. But, in real life, things are different. You can't quite talk smack, rant and rave so much like you can, say, here....there are more consequences, of course.

But even aside from that. I'm scared of my own temper. Really, I've been in fights, and in some of those fights, I was so angry that not only did I not feel pain, but I actually lost *color vision* temporarily. I know where that comes from now (Long Story Very Short: Really bad family, post-traumatic stress issues, and *dissociation* out the wazoo), but that still doesn't make the problem any less.

Truth is, I'm not as young and healthy as I used to be. I have had a ton of old injuries pile up on this body. If I start releasing the anger again, and fighting again, it *will* cost me physically, even if I "win". And that doesn't even count the legal issues. I do *not* need to go to jail or prison where I'd just have to fight more to survive (and still get punked, courtesy of the *numbers game*). And I *really* wouldn't do so well being confined to a Psychiatric Ward either...I was confined to one for *three years* when I was really young and *that left a mark on me* in terms of just plain not liking to be *locked up* for any reason at all whatsoever.

So yeah. Point is, I have a really nasty, brutal temper, a mean streak a mile deep....and it *has to* stay buried if I am to get over my problems and get better on *my* terms. And of course, this is not helpful in the slightest in therapy terms, in terms of getting *over* my issues, now is it? o_O

I hope this helps clear things up.....I don't like confrontation, not so much because of what other people can do to me, but because of what I *was* capable of myself as an older child, teenager, and young man. I just *don't* like the idea of being that close to the edge in terms of being a Threat to Society that needs locking up--that's my father, not me.

Thanks for your time and patience, and stay safe this evening.

Ironically I don't look for it, but sometimes it finds me. It is ironic that I was a cop for so long and I don't love confrontation. Maybe that is why I got fewer complaints than the "in your face" officers who are convinced they have to win every argument.
I figured the pen is mightier than the sword, just write them a ticket, but don't argue with them...
I'm not afraid of confrontation, but I sure don't live for it...
Unlike my friend that I said "you love to argue and confront." He immediately began yelling that he didn't love to argue, or confront, blah blah blah and I just laughed at him and said "you see my point?" and walked off.
