WHY didn't u tell us who wrote this? Don't you want to share the poets name with everyone who was interested in knowing who wrote such provocative words of longing and heartache?
Personally, I think # 2 has deeper subtlety than #1 does. And that is 7 years of Literature study in university talking. I read lots of books, poetry, and wrote many many comparison papers myself.
