An ex got all screaming at me about how much he hated me and how he resented that I considered him the center of my world (I dont) and how I was responsible for all the bad crap in his life -what had preceeded the incident was me asking him and two weeks later he expects me to be his friend as if nothing happened.
Um - am I nuts, or is an appology the least I deserve before I should even consider being his friend?

I would totally ignore this guy. No way should he disrespect you like that and expect to be friends.

I think that he was angry but an apology is the best route to take right now and considering the hurtful things he said your not nuts but forgiveness is the key of life God forgives you and the least you can do is forgive others. Im not saying right away bucause God knows I would have said something back or worse (slapped him lol) but when the time is right open your heart bck up your better than that.

First off, forget a sorry back from the person, people say things they either mean or don't mean were all human, forget about the words they said, be friends, don't worry about what someone else says to you, it makes you a better person trust me

There are many levels of friendship. Where do you want to put him? If you can find it in your heart to forgive, then do so, and you should also reiterate to him that he needs to apologise. But ultimately, bottom-level friends go their own separate ways.

You have to grab a moment and be heard. If this person is willing to hear how they insulted you, and is truly remorseful, then you have possibilities.

It sounds like an apology is in order.
I'd ask him to apologize if he wants to be friends with you.

You can be friends or not be friends with anyone you want and you dont have to give reasons to anyone. No one owns you.
