why do kids who were abused or neglected have to be put on meds, why can't social services try to help these children by lisening and trying to understand them, instead of trying to put them on high doses of meds I was in F/C and they had me on several of different medications but I stopped taking them when I turned 18 and got out of F/C cause I felt I didn't need meds or therapy, my son was tooken from while I was in F/C and he is about to turn 2 in june and social services want to put him on meds for bipolar, because his moods change alot and social services is saying Im ill and need meds to be able to do what i need to do. but I think it is bull Well now that I'm of my meds I feel alot better and have close relationships with my b/f and his family, I have been living with them for 1 1/2 yr and they say im fine and doing better without my meds. and the only reason Im doing better is cause someone lisened to me and tried to understand what do u think? should all these kids be on meds

It's all about money.
They get more funding if they do something to act like they care. (they don't)
Those drugs are experimental still and foster care kids are the guinea pigs.

I am a Foster Mom, an adoptive Mom and have a biological child as well. Not all foster children are put on meds. Each child is looked at individually and a case study is done to try to give that child all the physical, mental and emotional help that they can. I think there is more to the story than what you've implyed. I find it very hard to believe that a child of 2 years old was diagnosed and started on meds for bi-polar depression. I do think every child should be listened to carefully and a full treatment program planned, for some that would include medication.

My adopted son was started on medication for severe learning disabilities due to fetal alcohol syndrome. They were a godsend in his particular case. I have never had a child as young as 2 on any meds, although some forms of therapy (play therapy, speech therapy) can be started as early as 18 months.

I'm sure hey don't put all foster care kids on medications, these kids have been fostered for a reason, perhaps they were abused by there parents both sexually and physically.it sounds as though you have turned into a nice lady, and if you can look after yourself without medications you should be able to look after your son.i don't know how they have diagnosed by-polar disease at 2 years old.perhaps he is hyper-active.have a good talk to your councilor, social security people have got it WRONG before.good luck to you

Your common social worker is in it for the money, plain and simple. The more disturbed the child is, the more money they make and the bigger their budget is.

They're often very abusive and neglectful towards their charges as well. Trust me, I know from first hand experiences. I have been abused verbally, physically, and sexually by these people when I was a child. You can not tell me that they are in it to "help the children," because I know different.

perfect priority is to be sure your babies are risk-free and nicely taken care of. If the mummy's melancholy is having a detrimental or majorly detrimental impression on the babies - they'd desire to be placed in foster care. i comprehend it hurts, yet you recognize what I even have reported is ideal. besides the shown fact that, from what you have reported i think of your situation grew to become into extra a area impression of a few medicine you have been taking. seems to me like getting your babies back would desire to be as worry-free as finding a clean medicine which you respond nicely to and having your well-being care expert write a observe. So unhappy which you're lacking out on a factor of your babies' lives because of this :( i comprehend it purely makes issues worse. i desire you have chanced on a drugs which you respond nicely to and that that's shown which you're a stable mom. If issues do not pass your way - i desire which you will a minimum of be allowed to pass on your babies on a prevalent foundation, alongside with being a huge area of their birthdays.

The processes is under the law of your country. You can not question the law enacted for your own welfare and aside from it the Medical Doctors are not foolish enough to put kids under medication if it is not needed. Be thankful to your government. What they are doing is in your faor and personal welfare.

Do not think of yourself that you are more better in medication than the doctors attending to the kids and you.Doctors hacve carefully studied medical matters but you did not. Submit yourself to what is good for you or else you will not live long. Do you still intend to live longer? or tired of living. Submit for medical attention.

I agree and I can't figure out why most people must be placed on medication

Anything that has to do with the government is one big headache.

To put it simply, they give them drugs rather than listening because they are lazy.
