What are some good anime shows? (you're personal faves!)?

Anyone have any opinions on good anime shows?
Im looking to buy some, but im not sure what to get. =P
I've been to some anime review websites, but they're are so many shows, and i dont really want to look at each one. x(

So if you have any favorite anime shows, please post them. ^^
(My favorite genres are currently: horror,scifi, or anything with humor. Though, im up for anything! Except romance....unless its yaoi!) xD lol

The only problem with the show I will mention is that it keeps getting bumped about the Cartoon Network lineup

Buy FLCL, stands for Fooly Cooly. It's only 6 episodes and the special edition is out on dvd. It's a comedy that is usually on the top of lists for being different from other animes.

A must get is Hellsing, especially since the OVA came out for it lately and the third episode will be in April. Makes an excellent scifi. It has a original series of 13 episodes, but I don't know if you will find it in stores, perhaps ebay.

Animes that are great, but drain the wallet due to more than 50 episodes:
Naruto
Bleach
Full metal Alchemist
Any Gundam - suggest "Gundam Wing"
Eureka Seven - has some romance, but none of the kind that wants to make you gag.

Full Metal Panic - has three parts. The second part is FMP Fumoffu is probably the funniest anime out there because it parodies other anime. You should buy Fumoffu, it actually is worth every penny. It is seperate from the actual FMP storyline so don't worry about any spoilers.

If you want a good yaoi anime I would recommend Loveless.

Loveless is a yaoi romance focusing around 12 year old Ritsuka Aoyagi in a alternate version of modern Japan, where people are born with cat-ears and tails, which they lose when they sexually mature and discover true love. Ritsuka is still just a kid, so he still has big ears and a long tail. He meets Soubi Agatsuma who is around his early or mid 20s. Soon Ritsuka is thrown into a world of 'fighters' and 'sacrifices'. Really you would have to watch the show to understand it full...I'm really not all that good at writing summary's .

Loveless only has about 12 or so episodes but its really cute.

I would say my favorite would be...

Meitantei Conan

The english dub is known as Case Closed. IT ROCKS.

The main genre is mystery but there is also quite a bit of horror as well. Sadly there seems to be a little non-yaoi romance.

Sorry if I spoil anything for you when I explain about the series.

Meitantei Conan is about 17 year old high school detective Kudo Shinichi (Jimmy Kudo in the dub) who was out on a date with his childhood friend and secret crush Mouri Ran (Racheal Moore) at Tropical Land (an amusment park). He spots a mysterious figure dressed completely in black and follows him in an alley way where the man is blackmailing a company owner. Shinichi is watching all of this and is about to get a picture when the man's accomplice comes at Shinichi from behind with a bat or pole. Shinichi falls to the ground and by the men in black is forced to take some experimental poison that is supposed to be untracable in the human body and they leave. Shinichi's body then starts smoking and he passes out. When he wakes up he finds that he was turned into an 6 or 7 yaer old.

In the second episode Shinichi goes to Hakase Hiroshi Agasa (Prof./Doctor Hershal Agasa) for help in his dillema. Sadly Doctor Agasa can't make a cure. Ran comes over looking for Shinichi after calling his house multiple times. Shrunken Shinichi was hiding behind his dad's desk and had quickly gotten his dad's glasses to disgise himself before Ran found him. When asked his name he had backed up to a bookshelf and saw Conan Doyle and Edogawa Ranpo books and quickly answered "Edogawa Conan" (Conan Edogawa). Agasa makes up an exuse and asks Ran if she could keep Conan with her for a while. This is really important because her dad is also a detective and Conan might be able to track the men in black through him. Ran says yes as long as her dad is fine with it and now Conan lives with Ran and her dad Mouri Kogoro (Richard Moore).

The rest of the series is about how Conan solves cases and gives Kogoro the credit. At the moment the manga is at Takabon (volume) 57 (600 chapters) and the anime is at episode 469 in Japan. Or so wikipedia says.
