I was working front desk in reservations, when a party of 3 came to get a refund for ticket. They told me they'd lost a member of their party--I said "Hope you find them"

Awkward silence--they informed me their 'missing person' was going home in a pine box....

Ouch, my toenails scraped my tonsils on that one!

I was about nine years old and it was Christmas time. My mom and I were at home putting up the Christmas decorations and an old friend of hers from school called...he was going to be passing through and wanted to stop and see her and my dad (he was at work) So my mom is trying to clean everything up because this guy is coming over to our house and I'm helping her, or I think I am anyway......we had an artifical tree that year for the first time and she had bought this spray stuff to make the tree smell like a live tree....so I got the can and sprayed it all over the tree and it stunk something awful!!!!!

Fast forward about a half an hour and her friend shows up...by this time, I'm in my room doing whatever....and she calls up to me to come down and meet her friend.......so I walk out of my room, come to the top of the stairs and before anyone else has a chance to say anything....I go *Omgosh, Moooooooom......why did you spray that awful stinky stuff on the tree again???????*

Turns out she didn't....it was his cologne........:~O

She still tells that story about me and my big mouth!!!

Since faux pas is French and since I am French too, I will answer. I was working in a shop near Paris in France. A woman came to me and ask me something. I couldn't understand so I asked her in French if she could repeat. Then, still couldn't understand what she was saying or in which language she was speaking, I asked her, in English, if she could speak English. Then she answered to me "but I am Irish, I do speak English and I spoke to you in English!!!". I was so embarrassed. Then she repeated her question but with her irish accent, I still couldn't understand so I just answered "No sorry!" and she left. Shame on me for that because I had just spend an entire year in the US and I was very fluent but not in Irish English!
