My 2 month old is on Similac formula and he seems to be having a hard time digesting it. When he finally does, it comes right back up. The doctor says he is good as long as he is gaining weight, but why is he continuously doing this? My oldest son didn't do this and he was on Good Start. Do you think it could be the formula?

go to the store and buy a small can of soy milk free formula and see if it helps. my son did this also, i asked his doctor if maybe he had a milk allergy since i did. the doc said no. Guess what the doc was wrong. i switched formulas and doctors and my baby got better. If you are on WIC and get free formula they will switch it if you take them a note from your doctor. Hope that sweet baby gets to feeling better soon.

As the pedi said, as long as he is gaining all should be well...

but if you are very worried I would suggest switching formula. Maybe he needs soy formula or similac just doesn't work for him. Nestle Good Start makes a formula with comfort proteins which break down better for digestion.

It could also be acid reflux. I would monitor his weight and feedings and report all findings to the doctor.

It could be the formula or it could be reflux. I breast fed my daughter so I have no experience with formulas, but she did have reflux and it went on even while she continued to gain weight. It looks like they're spitting up a lot ... maybe even all that you fed them ... but they aren't. From what I was told, they're spitting up between one and two tablespoons of liquid. If you take that amount and spill it on your counter, it will look like a lot. When my daughter had it, there wasn't anything to do but ride it out. They will eventually outgrow it and it's not hurting them ... as long as they continue to gain weight. It's just very messy. Now though, they do have a medication you can put in his formula to keep him from spitting it up after feeding. My neighbor is using it for her 8 month old. Do some Internet research on infant reflux and then go back to your doctor armed with the info.

Use Good Start! It's the best! My daughter had a horrible time with Enfamil and Similac, spit up, gas. Good Start will definitely cut down the spit up but it wont all go away. Also, maybe try cutting down the amount you give him. It might be too much for his tummy. Some babies drink a lot at one time and others need a little bit more often. Good Luck!

Yes it could be the formula, or if you are using tap water it could be that too. Before you switch formulas try using bottled water(if you don't already) if that doesn't work then switch formulas. Babies do not come with instruction manuals and from my experience (MOM OF 3) every infant is different. You are the mom and what you feel is best, you do.

That happened with mine. My oldest didn't and he was on Similac and my youngest did and he was on Good Start. He could be lactose intolerant or just be one of those babies that spit up. Try another brand or lactose free and see if there is a difference. Good Luck!!!!

He could be allergic to that particularbrand or allergic to milk based formula try the soy based one that might work. I have 4 teenage kids. we had to try several different kinds of formula for my youngest before we got it right. She kept getting a rash, and throwing up. She was allergic to the corn syrup. I finally found a formula without corn product in it, it was called Nursoy, She still allergic to corn 15 years later. Good luck.

It could be reflux. My two month old daughter does the same thing and I took her to the dr's and he said it was reflux. I'm not sure if you can get S26 formula where you are, but if you can try S26 A R, it's made for babies with reflux. You will need to buy a teat with a wider hole, as the formula is thicker.

All babies spit up formula. It's normal. As long as the baby is gaining weight there is nothing wrong with the formula or the baby.
