Because it was a Republican administration doing the firings. More specifically GW Bush. There is NOTHING he can do that the far left wing won't yell foul about.

The fact that they were fired was not contraversial. The contraversy occurred when the attorney's themselves protested their dismissal because of the phony reasons given by the Bushies for firing them. This was further excacerbated by the lies upon lies told by Bush and Co. about who did it and why. (Someday the heavens will open up and the angels will sing just because George W. Bush, at last, told the truth about something. Just don't hold your breath until it happens.) Of course no one would have known they were lying if those e-mails hadn't been sent to the wrong website (a perfectly delightful development - shows that Karma is still in effect.) This is not the first time that they have lied when the truth would have been better. Look at what happened to "Scooter".
It sounds as if you are a supporter for these mendacious hyenas. If so, you have my sympathy.

Quite frankly, because the Democrats can't DO anything in Congress, but must DO something to appease their constituencies. So they are busy attacking the Bush Administration for a lack of ability to do anything more productive.
They need to keep up momentum until the elections, but can't pass any bills. It's a fall back strategy, a default thing.
This won't be the last "scandal" they'll come up with. They'll keep 'em coming.

It's all political strategy. The Dems are trying to make the Republicans look bad, in hopes of setting up a huge win for the Dem Party in the 2008 elections. This pretended outrage has already cost us, the taxpayers, millions of dollars, and they are just getting started. When they fail here, there will be another, and continue until the elections. To me, they look like a bunch of idiots.

It's not. Nothing illegal about it. The Democratic game plan is to keep the Bush administration off balance up until the next election, to improve their chances of victory. It's a shame the liberal media has so blatantly sided with them.

this question has been asked and answered ad nauseum.
the firings are causing controversy because of WHY the US Attorneys were fired. according to various notes and emails between Gonzales, Harriot Mierrs and other assorted Whitehouse insiders the US Attorneys were fired because they failed to compromise their integrity by playing politics with their office. the US Atty. failed to go after the Dems the Whitehouse wanted them to go after or they went after Republicans that the Whitehouse wanted to protect. the firing of those particular US Attorneys at those particular times shut down certain investigations that were quite handy for the Whitehouse to have shut down. when questioned about all this Gonzales LIED TO CONGRESS.
and that's why these specific firings are yet another scandal coming out of the GW Bush admin.
PS. when Richard Nixon tried to do the same thing for simular reasons it was a big deal then too.

because of election fraud. they may have been fired because they were too aggressive in investigating Republicans and too lenient on Democrats...In other words they were colorblind in their investigations and the Admin. wanted to go after Dem's only.
And Bush has the audacity to complain that the Dem's are being partisan in regards to Iraq when he is aggressively pursuing partisan politics behind the scenes...but that's what Bush does, protect his own and ignore the rest of us

It isn't. Any pres has the right and authority to fire them. They serve at the pleasure of the pres.
The libs will do anything to try to make Bush look bad. They are going to be hurting when it backfires on them

It's just a political opportunity for a power-grab, that's it. The Clinton administration fired attorneys by the bushel, and nothing was ever said (then again, the media loved Clinton.)
