Ask your service provider. Give them the particular make and model of your phone. They'll tell you if it has international capability. They will also activate your phone for international use if it has a compatible band.

No it will not work. As soon as you get to VN you need to buy a new SIM card. It is easy and not expensive. If you know someone there, they could send you a SIM card and you can change it before you get there, then you can call when you arrive. They can pay for time as well and the card will be ready. Good luck
Have fun in VN :-))

Your cell phone carrier can provide you with all the answers to your questions. If your carrier doesn't work in Vietnam, call some other carriers. I'm sure there are ones that do work there and there are always the prepaid ones, but you would need to check and see if the coverage is there also.

South East Asia, the home of cheap electronics. buy one there. If your US plan activates your service in another country, roaming charges will be unreal. Cheaper and better to get a local solution.

it likely wont.

My cell phone doesn't work in the states and I'm Canadian...

My best advice is to buy a cheap pay as you go phone while you're there and some prepaid long distance cards.
