I think in all fairness, you should try to think back to when you asked her to finance you. What were your dreams and aspirations then? Where did you see yourself working? Then just give it a shot for a while. If you're done your schooling, take a job for a while in that field, and work towards going back to school to get education in another field.
The reason I say this, is I also put my daughter through a college of hair design, and she has had many ups and downs. She graduated with a 95% average and got a job at the top salon in our city. That's when the real world kicked in and she found out all about working with a lot of women. She got discouraged many times along the way, and just yesterday was invited to assist with a platform show which gave her lots of exposure. I told her that if she decides to change careers, she will have to finance it herself, so she has agreed to put her heart and soul into this one for now. I know she will move on, but for now it's an income, and a very good one, which she will need to further her education.

I recommend sitting down and talking to your Mom and be totally honest about why you feel the way you do, and perhaps the two of you can work something out like we did. I think all she is looking for is for you to be an adult about it and come up with some solutions.

Best of luck to you!
