My friend is asking me to pay half of the money that he paid for the hotel cost. he went to sue me. what can i do? we didn't have this deal. I am really angry. why ? I have paid a lot for him. this issue is not worth a lawyer and not even worth the time. I think he is using me because I tried to talk with him and then he said "Ok you have to pay more because I have paid $75 for the court". What id going on?

Yes actually I did agree to pay so i can avoid any reaction from him while we were on the trip. I was planning to give him the money and end the relationship but he called me and said are you mad at me? and I explained why I was mad at him them he said" I don't care about you, bi**. give me my money, I don't give a fu**" then I decide to to pay him. but suddenly he told me that he is going to sue me I went to ask the lawyer in my university and they told me if he came first you can't use our service. but the girl in the office explained that he can sue me but that doesn't mean he gonna win it. however, she was talking about verbal agreement or something but I am 100% he doesn't have any proof except the reciept for the hotel that we rent it for 2 days. I don't know. I don't know. I don't wanna be busy for this silly thing. I don't know if they may prevent me from travelling or freeze my bank account. Oh my GOD

I'm lost. He "went to sue me" is ambiguous—was that the purpose of the trip or action he is taking now? I can't think of a reason to go on a trip and not pay half unless you were doing a favor, but you said that you did say you planned to pay him and that you have paid him a lot in the past. He called you a "bi**", and that is ambiguous as well—did you mean "bi***" which is a term that used to be used only for women but now can be used for men as well. Are you both guys or were you a girlfriend? What are the $75 court costs he spoke of—are they from before the trip or if he sues you? Depending on the cost of the hotel. you can cut your losses and stop calling him a friend—or you can say sue me and stop calling him a friend (why would a friend sue you and could you sue him back?). Good luck..

Unfortunately, your going to have to answer some questions first, even to a lawyer.

Did the two of you have an agreement of any sort? If so, what did the agreement consist of? Did you, at any point, give your friend the impression that you would help cover the cost of said hotel room?

First of all, why did your friend have to rent a hotel for the both of you? Were the both of you on a trip, where it was decided in the beginning that everything would be split evenly?

It's going to be difficult if he doesn't have it in writing stating that you will pay half, but, depending on the circumstances of why a hotel was rented, it could go either way.
