Nine West has a subsidiary company called Cloud-9. They sell them at many nine west stores, and they are specifically for people who have to be on thier feet. They are extra comfy. I bartended for a while at a bar where skirts and heels were required, and Cloud-9 shoes were a favorite among the staff because they were not murder on your feet and back, but they were not too ugly either.

A few of us work daily the same way you do, always on our feet.
We talk about it and compare remedies.

The most common answer?
Several pairs of shoes- rotated. That way, your feet is not in one position for weeks and months and years.

There are some shock absorbent mats that can be bought to line the work area. They look ugly but they sure take out some of the discomfort.

When you go home at the end of your shift, take a little walk. Having a dog helps. It circulates the blood . and improves your disposition, and your dogs (pun intended) love you for that.

Putting your feet up is also good, no matter what shoes you wear.

As for type of shoes, good arch support, non slip soles and good thick rubber impact absorbing bottoms. Leather will look good and stylish on the sides but at the end of a long day, you will find that it is the type of soles that count..

You should get some special arch supporters. There is shoe stores which specialize in customizing arch supports for those with the exact problem you just mentioned.

It doesn't matter what name brand shoe you wear, if you have a high arch, you will continue to have foot problems. The only way to protect your feet from discomfort for long periods at a time is to go to this store http://www.goodfeet.com/Products/Flex_Series/Mid-Flex/mid-flex.html . They will measure your feet and arch so when you wear shoes of any kind, the arch support can go inside whatever shoe you choose wear. The prices run a little high but it's worth it.

I work 8-13 hours a day, it depends if we are short staffed. I got a pair of Adidas climacool shoes They have a nice arch & comes w/ extra too. They are vented as well, I had a problem w/ my feet getting hot and they would start to ach. Go to this site and you can see the diffrent styles. They are $$$ on this site but check your local shoe store> I think I only payed $35 for mine & they were $90.

I have the same problem.- high arch.
You can get your shoes custom made with fitting soles (expensive).

For covered shoes- a folded sock or a soft supporter under your arch, at the toes and heel and were the shoe. Its comforts a little.

For open sandals/heels, layer the sole with a soft material or past patches of soft material where your feet hearts most.

Apply a pain relief oilman before wearing your shoes.

Or decorate your most comfy shoes.

Good luck

I would check with a uniform shop, or J C Penney's,, or ask a nusre, etc.,,or,, ask a podiatrist! foot comfort is too important to take lightly,, it is the health of your spine, as well. I am a man, and work many hours a day, in construction, and LOVE RedWings work shoes, cost a lot,,last a LONG time,,worth, every penny,,and I have a pair on, right now. Also, you might try to find a New Balance shoe store

I work standing on my feet for long hours also so i can relate to what your going through. One of these brands are sure to bring you at least 10 hours worth of comfort. I have at least one pair by all of them and I havent had a problem with my feet hurting at work in almost a year now.

Good luck!

Stay away from nike, adidas, and those other vietnamese brands. They are not made for comfort or durability, they are strictly style. Get yourself a pair of Merrell shoes, I was skeptical at first, now, they are all I buy. Try them out, you'll see. I have two pairs of the soft mocs, they are amazing, I've had them for five years, and they still look and feel like new, I have also worn them year round, through canadian winters and all.

Go with some gel inserts and change your shoes during the day. It'll make a big difference. At night before bed , on your back , massage your feet then grab your ankles and "milk" the blood back up your legs, breathing deeply as you do it ,but only if your doctor says its ok to do so.
