Dwarf hamster help!?

Question

I just got a dwarf hamster and i need some info on it, first i want to know how you can determine it's age. i think it's a campbell dwarf hamster it's like a tanish brownish color and has a black stripe down it's back. what can it eat besides the food u get at petco? and how long does it live?

usually, they live from 3-5 years. (hope you enjoy it) as for age, i am a breeder and it is very often hard to tell. most hamsters grow at vastly different rates depending on genetics. and for food, you can feed them the following:
peanuts
cooked eggs
apples
celery
cucumber
carrot
berries
raisins
pumpkin
not lettuce
cheese
and much much more.
most of what i just listed is packed with protiens that support energy efficiency and growth. however, they should be a suppliment and not a main course. this means that you should feed them mainly the seed mix from the pet store and add some of these foods for further enjoyment. check out this website for more info:

As far as age, if it was at large petstore chain it's generally going to be under a year old. It sounds like a Russian to me. Feed him some comercial hamster chow, and lab blocks. You can feed it fresh veggies as a treat, but not too much or your could give it wet tail. Wet tail is normally fatal. Most hampsters don't live much passes 3/4, but my current hampster is 5.

you better ask your hamster store keeper or a breeder of his age its the better wya and some very healthy hamsters leave for 2 or 3 years
