The nose strips are not going to help you.
If your snoring is really loud and disruptive, chances are good that you have a condition called sleep apnea, which MUST be taken seriously. Untreated sleep apnea not only stresses both the snorer and everyone else in the house who can't get a good night's sleep, it can also lead to heart malfunction and death! Contrary to popular belief, you don't need to be overweight to have sleep apnea.
Apnea is easily treated with the use of a night-breathing aid called a CPAP. You must see a sleep doctor before you can get one, as they have to be individually adjusted, but most insurance covers the cost. CPAP eliminates snoring 100% and keeps your heart from being damaged. Surgery is very rarely used to treat apnea, as the success rate is not that good.
Please ask your doctor to refer you to a sleep doctor or sleep clinic ASAP. These facilities often have a long waiting list, and procrastinating can really damage your health. Do it today.

1) Lose weight - if you're more than 30 lbs over "normal", that could be the problem. Fat actually accumulates at the back of the throat when one gains weight and restricts the passage of air.
2) Someone suggested "sleep apnea". That needs a doctor's attention and is worth checking out. Do you find that you can't stay awake while driving? (I had a friend with this that fell asleep at stop lights!) Do you need to take naps during the day? Have you ever spaced out for a period of time and 'lost' two or three minutes of history? Apnea can be serious.
3) Have your wife try "Hearos". They are an ear plug that is soft and comfortable to wear and are sold in drug stores. (We use them and they work very well, although not perfect.)
4) Surgery may be an option, but it isn't guaranteed to solve the problem.
You're right. The nose thingies don't work.
Good luck.

well if you haven't tried the strip things than do, or clear your nose and you soem nose spray, drink lots of water too just to kindof wash your mouth out, or just use mouth wash, lol, maybe video tape your sleeping positions with a sound recorder as well, cause some times certain positions make you snore. Check this site for other info

If you have that serious of a problem with snoring you might have sleep apnea. I would discuss this with my doctor especially if you suffer from daytime drowsiness. My wife used to snore so loud I could not sleep in any nearby room, but after she was diagnosed with sleep apnea and was put on a CPAP machine she never snores!

You might have something my dad had called Sleep Apnemia or however you spell it , I don't know. But what happens is that at night you might stop breathing for a little bit which causes the snoring, or you could just be a chronic snorer, I don't know. But maybe ask your doctor? or someone with medical experience and see what they have to say

My husband wears a machine at night for sleep apnea. He sleeps like a log. Maybe your husband should give it another try. Maybe it will take him a little bit to get used to it. My husband says he wouldn't sleep without his now. He sleeps 100 percent better with it then he ever did without it. Is it uncomfortable for him or is he just maybe self conscience about having to wear it at night in front of you.

Snoring is not normal for anyone. Get checked out. You may have some sort of obstruction in your airway that needs to be treated.
