In my district those who have a 10 month contract have June and July free but return to school about mid-way thru August.

Those with an 11 month contract have only the month of July off. They work into June and go back the first part of August.

Typically, when discussing the difference between 10-month versus 11-month public school jobs, one is referring to job classification. Classroom teachers are most commonly 10-month jobs; whereas, support staff (secretaries, attendance clerks) are 11-month jobs.

Some school district have "teachers" at a 11-month job, but these positions are Literacy and/or Reading Coaches, Data Coaches, Media Specialists, Technology Coordinators, etc.

Good Luck....
