I personally don't think it would be too bad of an idea to have that. I know my city (Amarillo) tried that for a couple of years but I don't think it wokred out too well for them but i am not sure why ti didn't becuas eI was still in the school system and didn't have to go to one of the year round schools so i didn't really care. I think it would be good if we could have that so that people can learn a lot more. i also think it would be beneficial to have something of a vocational school for highschool, where kids can leran job skills that they would be when they get out of high school and are going into college.

Excellent! I went through the "summer off" cycle of school, and our classes had to re-teach the prior years' lessons for the first half of the year. Talk about boring!
Kids in year round schools can keep going, making much more progress each year. Much more interesting.

I think the summer off cycle looses the attention of a lot of kids. It also sets you up to expect the summers off when working, and you feel cheated when you have to work all summer. I know teachers prefer summers off to do the things they love, so most of them are opposed to it. It's difficult, but if we are serious about correcting the problems of public education we will have to move to year-round schooling.

I disagree with the idea as I feel that children ought to have some time off a regimented schedule to enjoy their childhood. Life is a continuous learning process. There is only a limited time for childhood. If we don't loosen up and allow kids to be kids and enjoy this particular time in their lives, we will have more neurotics, psychotics, and a whole lot of depressed/dysfunctional folks in this world than we already have!

Its beneficial to the learner, as they are off for shorter periods of time...and everyone gets the same amount of holidays as before, just in shorter periods...two and three weeks at a time, instead of the long summer vacation like now. But, not everyone has the vacation at the same time, and siblings in different schools could have different vacations, so as to be a nightmare for childcare purposes!

I do not like it at all.Alot of people goes on vacation during summer vacation. There will be kids missing 1-2 weeks of school during the summer so they can go on vacation with their parents.

Honestly, I love school! We all need a break once in a while, but two months off is way too much.
