Does anyone know what all the Model codes mean at the end of car names such as LS, EX, GL, GLE, ES, SE, etc. ?

EX-Extended
ES-Extended sport
SE-Special Edition

In previous generations, a car's trim level was given a proper name, like Pontiac's Tempest, LeMans, Lemans Custom, and GTO (the latter being a special performance model aside of trim level.) These days, trim levels are signified by these designations. Sometimes they have some meaning, like SE means "Special Edition," but in most cases it's just nonsense . . . including SE.

I believe Honda's base cars tend to be DX, and then they have LX and maybe SE? I dunno. But you should get the point at this, um, point! :-)

Sometimes car makers use their own designations that are unique to the brand, like the SEL for the Taurus or the aformentioned XLT, which is nonsensical despite what a previous poster said - in fact, it has its roots from the 1960s when there was a Galaxie XL!

just know a few:: lx is a luxury :: se = sports edition:: ls = limited series or limited sport:: gl = i thing grand luxury i asked a dealer that one time and he told me what they all ment but i cant remember all of them,, but he could be full of sh#* too LOL but i know LX and SE and LS are right my car is LX my aunts it SE and it is sporty insurance is twice as much on her SE car then tthe BIG truck she has and its newer then the car

I know what mine means...Explorer XLT...means Explorer Xtra Large Truck...but it's just your ordinary, everyday 4 door, 4WD, 8 Cyl Explorer...

I don't know where automakers come up with that stuff.
