Yes I do it all the time. My company has a policy about surfing the Internet; they "allow" us to do so on our lunch breaks but don't want us to use it for anything but work matters. I have no qualms about pulling it up on any given occasion during any time of the day when I need to do so. I've been there for over 3 years and have been doing so ever since day 1, and they have yet to complain to me about it.

I would absolutely do it, even if it cost me my job. There are just some things *the advent of the Internet is one of them* that are not negotiable to me. Same thing if a company sent a letter around asking me not to breathe. Communication with others should be a right, not a privilege.

no. most work computers have a "spy" program on them and the boss will know.
you are bored is there nothing extra you can do ? clean the windows, straighten up the office, study a book to improve your work performance.

No. They may check up on you. If you do not follow the rules, you could find yourself without a job. I've never seen a job that you couldn't find something to do. Ask you supervisor for help.

We all sneak on when we can(like to check our mail).
The put up a sign that we would be fired for using it on company time for personal use.Just a tad harsh.

I am a lion...I don't get the newsletters, they pretty much let me do what I want or I will eat them.
In your case I have always been pretty much a goody goody...I would probably obey...lol...that's pretty lame, I know.

If you are asked not to go on the computor during your work hours, then you should respect your boss and do as your told. Unless you are doing something that is related to your work, you really shouldn't be on it. Just my opinion.

It would depend on how important my job is to me. If I didnt want to risk losing it then no I would not.

Well, you were asked not to, not told not to. I'd still go on.
