the best gift we can ever give our children is the true meaning of god and jesus dying for our sins and the only way to heaven is through jesus christ. he has already paid for our sins all you have to do is except salvation.

My mother's ancestors immigrated from Ireland and England. Some of my father's ancestors, (American Indians) were living here when my mother's ancestors came. Some of my father's ancestors married some of my mother's ancestors. Many of my ancestors, and their children "grew up in dangerous times". Every time in history has been "dangerous".
Respect for others is the most important lesson" we can teach our children. We can give them our love, support, and encouragement; but, without a respect for others, our children will have no anchor to humanity.
A knowledge of family history: the trials and tribulations of our ancestors, can also be useful in teaching our children family and community values.

Times have always been dangerous. They need to be taught the great advantages of living in a country where, if they work hard enough, they can be anything they want. They need to know that if they want something, don't look to the government, work for it and have a happy & grateful attitude that they live here, and not in Iran or Darfor.

Take some advice from John Lennon:
Lennon
Song: Give Peace a Chance
Ev'rybody's talking about
Bagism, Shagism, Dragism, Madism, Ragism, Tagism
This-ism, that-ism, is-m, is-m, is-m.
All we are saying is give peace a chance
All we are saying is give peace a chance
C'mon
Ev'rybody's talking about Ministers,
Sinisters, Banisters and canisters
Bishops and Fishops and Rabbis and Pop eyes,
And bye bye, bye byes.
All we are saying is give peace a chance.
If John Lennon isn't your thing, then refer to The Second Amendment, which reads:
“ A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."
"Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect every one who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are ruined." --Patrick Henry

What kind of dangerous times are you taking about?!?! these "times" are not dangerous...i mean yes there is terrorism and everything but be happy to live in this time period. We are not going through any world wars or anything like that. Many people have it a lot harder, and be thankful where you are living. I don't think you live in a poor country because those countries don't have internet. Teach your children to be aware of their surroundings and to always be alert, especially at night. But please don't call these times dangerous.

Teach them that they're not living in dangerous times and that they should take the time to be children, instead of people trying to force them to be adults and take on adult responsibilities before they are ready for them.

IMHO there is three things that are most important!
Trust in God, believe in your self, and treat others as you would like to be treated. It is my suggestion that these three things will teach your children respect, faith and belief in themselves!

My middle school students, who have seen it all...taught me that love is the lesson we need to know. First, none of us wants to die without letting those we love know we love them. Second, no one wants to die not knowing how mu they are loved. Use that when you face each new battle in life.
