Originally "Shake-n-bake" was a type of crust that you put on a piece of chicken or pork before you cooked it in the oven. Shake it in a bag and bake it in the oven. It has taken on many meaning depending upon the imagination of somebody. Shake people up and turn on the heat (cops), I was a door gunner in an Iroquois during Vietnam and if you got hit and wen down in was a "shake and bake" as it would shake the cra* out of you and there was often fire involved or just the "heat" of the experience. I knew some fighter pilots that used the term but I'm not positive what exactly they were talking about. This kind of stuff.
Hope this helps

It can also mean something else in "pop culture". It means cooking with marijuana. You arrive at the phrase by the term "shake" meaning ground up marijuana buds, or the leaves of the marijuana plant laying crunched up and dry in the bottom of the baggy the weed is kept in. Since most pot smokers prefer to smoke the buds for their potency and flavor...they reserve the "shake" for last...or for using in recipes like pot brownies, or a variety of other creative food recipes. Cooking and eating marijuana, can provide a different, unique "high" or "bake" as it's been called. For instance, you may have heard people who smoke dope say "I'm baked"...or "wake and bake", which means to get high first thing in the morning. OK...so now you should have the idea. I'm not SURE that's what your friends are referring to, but it's a possibility.

It's a cooking method where u fill a bag with flour and seasonings, drop a piece of meat or fish into the bag...then give the bag a "shake" to coat the surface area.
Once this is done u remove the item and "bake" it in the oven, but it can also be fried.

You shake whatever kind of meat you want into a baggie full of shake and bake seasoning, then put the meat in a pan to bake it in the oven.
