I bought 2 fish yesterday, and now theyre both dead. What did i do wrong? i just placed them in a fish bowl.. is there a certain procedure in setting up a fish bowl before you add your fish? What are they? and by the way, i found really tiny fish-like organisms in my fish's body!! it was really tiny had to use a magnifying glass to see it clearly... it was moving, even when my fishies were already dead.... what are theyy...?

in? as in you cut open your fish? or on? on your fish it's just external parasites, easily treated.

however, there are a few reasons your fish died, bowls aren't suitable for one fish, definitely not two. what kind of fish were they? how big was the bowl? they either died of shock if you didn't float the bags in the bowl for an hour before putting them in, or ammonia poinsoning.

do yourself a favor and do a little research about fish you want, get the right sized tank with a filter and heater if tropical.cycle your tank (google fishless cycling) and then get your fish.

1. If you put them in a bowl they probably died from not having enough air.
2. A bowl needs nothing but water and should only be used for a Betta, A tank needs to be cycled and a goldfish is a good starter fish to cycle a tank with, most of the people I know (depending on the size of the tank) use water from another tank to start their cycles. Cycleing a fresh tank for the first time usually takes 3 to 6 weeks and goldfish are the common type of fish to get this done cause they are cheap to buy and very hardy fish (extremely easy to care for).
3. Sounds like the fish had a disease prior to you bringing it home.

Ditch the bowl!

They are terrible for keeping anything. You can probably pick up a 10 gallon tank for less than a bowl anyway. A fish tank is an isolated ecosystem, and it needs to properly mature before it can support life. The water needs to go through a nitrification process...which usually takes about 2-4 weeks.

Read up on aquarium "cycling" and how to properly acclimate fish.

Fish bowls mean certain death for almost all types of fish and no fish should be kept in one. Get yourself and Aquarium, set it up and let run for awhile before adding any fish to it.

Ban the Bowl!
