how can i connect 2 computers via usb only
one is windows xp and second is windows 98

... with a USB "Crossover" Cable.
Or, better yet AND MUCH CHEAPER (especially for a 20ft or longer cable ).....an ethernet crossover cable.

As little as $3 for a 10 foot cable :

You cannot connect to computers with Win98 and XP via a USB hub unless you have some third party software or hardware which allows you to do so. The most practical way to "network" to computers is with ethernet cards.

You can however use a serial, parallel, or IR ports for temporary connections.

You need a USB-USB "bridged" cable or "networking" cable....install it on both computers and ur all set...for a more detailed description go to the source!
