To answer directly, no they do not. Worms are invertebrates and fruit flies have an exoskeleton.
Most insects have their 'bones' on the outside in the form of an exoskeleton, hence the name. There are some soft-bodied insect as well, but many of those do not have vertebrae either.
Invertebrates use an organization of nerve bundles and vascular system running the length of their body that does the job of the spinal cord and central nervous system that mammals like humans have. Our vertebrae not only supports the rest of our bones, but protects those vital systems running the length of our spine.
To give some examples of animals that do not have vertebrae: worms, snails, slugs, tadpoles, beetles, butterflies, and spiders.

The vertebrates are a small group phylogenically speaking and includes fish, amphibians, reptiles, mammals and birds, anything else would be considered an invertebrate. Insects or annelids would be good choice simply because of their ubiquity.

No, worms and fruit flies do not have backbones. Other invertebrates include sponges, squid, other insects, jellyfish, spiders, coral, and starfish.
I'd recommend worms for experiments.

Insects don't have vertebrae. They have an exoskeleton, so they can't have a spine. Worms don't have any either.
