hell ya... with the blossoming alex smith and frank "the tank" gore and vernon davis, with all these playmakers and the new acquisition from free agency. first of all, defense. on defense the niners have a experienced and steady d-line and a dependable linebacker corp and a pretty good group in clements and corp. at the cb, ss, and fs. second, on offense, the niners have a ok o-line, a studly rb(gore), a studly te(davis), a stud in the making(smith), and ok recivers(maybe upgrade during the draft?)
with all these weapons the niners should make the playoffs fosho

They havent lost anything since last year, they have only upgraded. Definetely make the playoffs. Alex Smith began to play better toward the end of the year, Vernon Davis is 100percent healthy and Frank Gore is coming off his career year. They finished 8-8 last year and won a lot of division games. I think they will definetely make playoffs and most likely win their division. The only problem they had was on defense and they improved that greatly with the signing of a top notch cornerback in Clements. I think they will be a serious threat in the playoffs next year.

maybe because they lost their offenseive of coach norv turner that helped alex amith improve and the offense. If they do get into the playoffs the 49ers will lose in the middle or the division. they really have a low chance of getting into the playoffs. unless they get a good another good offensive coach, if they get in the playoffs that would be called luck and they would have to battle great teams they never met b4 in the regular season

It's March. Hasselbeck might get hit by lightening in June. God's right hand may come from the sky, point at Alex Smith, and a booming voice declares that he shall set his 49ers free. (That one is unlikely, btw.:))
At this point Oakland might make the Super Bowl.:)
Seriously though, we are talking about the NFC West. Can the 49ers go 8-8? Yup.

Maybe. They upgraded their secondary with Michael Lewis and Nate Clements. They need Alex Smith to keep developing and give him more targets to throw to. Gore is fantastic ( had him in fantasy football) and should be up there with the league rushing leaders. The division is up for grabs and they have as good a chance as anyone in that Division.

First off... GO NINERS!!!
I want them to make it to the NFC Championships, and they might. IF...
IF, Gore can stay healthy. Without him I think they are in big trouble.
IF Alex Smith plays like he really can, using his athleticism and intelligence to give defenses fits.
IF the new offensive coordinator works out
and IF this new 3-4 defense, hinging on Nate holding down the secondary, works out.
There are a lot of ifs.
BUT... if all the ifs click at once... think what a monster Nolan will have created. Gives me a great chill down the spine. If we nail down our ifs, the NFC will be quaking in it's cleats.

if alex smith keeps getting better and frank gore keeps playing good than they'll be ok. plus with all those improved defensive players that team could make the seahawks look like crap. they could easily win the division meaning yes i think they'll get to the playoffs.

in a weak NFC, they definately will make it to the playoffs at about 9-7 and it will take a little more than that to win the division crown. smith, gore, and co. will have to play out of their minds to take the division crown and go far in the playoffs. i see them winning a wildcard game but losing in the divisional round game!!!

they play in a weak division in a weak conference...the top 3 teams in the AFC would probably have beat the NFC representative...if they improve at all they have a shot to win the west...
