A valuable lesson I learned from a professor who taught me Logic & Argument: Never argue with a fanatic. A fanatic, in his definition, was someone who would never ever change his/her position no matter how many objective facts you brought to bear. The only way to deal with a fanatic is to walk away, since you can never change their minds, and you will only frustrate yourself in trying. Recognize the signs of a fanatic and be ready to walk away when you see them,

This type of person falls into this kind of response: You say green like they say red light. You say turn right they go left. In other words why do you feel you need to prove a point to someone when you are already convinced. Who needs someone to always come in agreement with you. I know at times you just want them to know you are right, but believe me deep down inside they probably do agree with you , but putting that pride down is a hard thing to do for most. Most of the time it is sad when you see someone like this. What happends when you don't add the coals to the fire sooner or later the fire goes out. And they will let the topic go. Good luck with finding the solutions to your problem.

These are people who simply want to win a power struggle. The main thing is to not get upset. If you get upset, they'll feel like they've won and they'll be back for more.I have a co-worker who is this way. I listen respectfully to what he has to say and I don't back down and tell him he's right. I try to make the points I want to make calmly and I don't let the conversation drag on. When I feel that I've made my point, I find a way to politely end the conversation and go on with what I was doing.

Just dont fight them and let them keep thinking they are right and say yes dear or say whatever and let it go and be... Someday they will learn down the road that they are not always right and have to prove it. They will be wrong and will not be able to prove anything else for that matter. Just be patient and sit back and watch. I have learned not to argue with these kinds of people and to let them be.

You let them believe they are right. People who usually believe they are right will not accept anyone else's opinions. At times you have to let them fall on their face when it turns out they were incorrect to start out with. Unfortunately, if you try to prove them wrong you will only frustrate yourself in the process. They will always have a reason as to why they are right even if you place evidence in their face.

You make fun of their little Hitler complex. For example, if you say something, then know-it-all person contradicts you in a rude way, simply laugh and say loudly: "Oh, of course, oh wise one. How could I forget that you know everything about every topic under the sun." If you embarrass them in front of other people like that a few times, they'll get the hint.

It is so not about you. They have the need to prove themself. It may be low self-esteem,etc. Let them think they're winning. You still get to believe what you believe and keep the peace.

ignore them & don't start /get into debates with them. if they're persistent on being right, they will NEVER back down on their thoughts, no matter how valid your point is. think about it -- is there any point in even conversing with people like that?

well you don't deal with them, that's how you deal with them.....being right is dumb; expressing an opinion is a different story; they will eat their share of crow and find being right is being young and stupid
