A book like self-help, chicken soup, or daily affirmations, maybe a religious book like a Bible, lots of people get into God at rehab. A cool journal and a pretty pen.
You could get her something creative to do with her hands...it helps. Something like a scrapbook kit and a disposable camera. People sometimes want to put rehab behind them and not look back but not all. She might make some good friends there, and want pics...and it will be a good reminder to stay clean, she could use it for her milestones...like sobriety chips and such. I used to work at an intervention wilderness camp...kind of like rehab but not really...and the kids were big on memory stuff they could take home with them as a reminder of what they learned.
A delicate suggestion...not because of your friend but because of the facility policy and whoever else might be there...don't get her something with sharp objects, like needlework or anything that she would need scissors or jewelry making which involves wires and pliers. These are considered dangerous in some programs due to self harmers, even if it doesn't belong to the person in danger, it could be stolen and used for such purpose. It may be confiscated to keep everyone in the program safe. In fact, you have to think about what anyone there would do with anything you gave her...rehab can be a scary place sometimes with people doing very desperate things. So make sure your gift is relatively safe for anyone.
You could get her one of those stress balls or a spandex pillow with beads inside? These are great.
Some addicts need SOMETHING other than their drugs of choice, so maybe candy or gum Stay away from chocolate and cola because it has caffeine and is considered a mood altering drug. Most programs will allow candy/sugar unless she is working on an eating disorder.
Is media allowed? A CD or DVD.
A dumb teeshirt you think she would like..."I'm with stupid?" or equally corny. "I went to rehab and all I got was this lousy teeshirt." hahahha!
Most girls LOVE gift baskets with bath products. Likely there aren't tubs so no bubble bath, and candles won't be allowed (fire hazard). But you could get her a really good shampoo and conditioner...or some salt scrub in a plastic jar, or a body wash or shower gel...and a loofah or pumice or bath mitt. These are great because there are good detoxing formulas available (explain this to a health food store worker) and she can clean up her skin...she is very likely going to break out and feel gross when her body starts to clean itself up. Don't get her anything with a lot of alcohol in it...again...a rehab thing. People with the most severe alcoholism will drink anything available.
In addition to the gift you give her, if there is a canteen or store there, you might slip some money into her account to get whatever else she needs.
You are very thoughtful. Let us know what you decide.
Oh. Editing now. Don't giftwrap it. As you can imagine, rehab is not real big on the honor system...hahah! Maybe a gift BAG without all the confetti or shredded tissue paper. Just the stuff. It will be searched before she gets it, or as she is opening it...so be on the up and up with things.

Here's something creative that will be appreciated and you will have fun doing:
Make up a crossword puzzle and have all the hints be personal inside moments and jokes that only you two would know about. Put it on a poster board and add some clipart and some pictures to it!
The crossword puzzle could be time consuming and a bit frustrating ... you could do the same idea with a WORDSEARCH or WORDFIND puzzle.
Put your computer skills to work! Use Excel, get clipart from Yahoo Images Search, copy them, and reformat them, use a gluestick to put on posterboard.
Use graph paper, and pictures from magazines if you are not as good on the computer, and it will give it a homemade feeling.

You are already giving her support, which she needs the most. I'm not really sure, maybe something she can focus on once she leaves rehab. Did she use to have hobbies that she doesn't do anymore? Maybe you can give her something to help her rekindle some of her old interests, before drugs. Whatever you get I'm sure she will appreciate you thinking of her. The world needs more supportive people like you.

go to bath and body works and have the girls there put a gift bag together. hand lotion, bath gel is great. they have these really nice air fresheners you plug in the wall. they probably wont let her have candles so that is a nice way to give her a refreshing smell for her room. there are a lot of nice scents there. pick out one you like and maybe some little candies added too. Have fun be upbeat and it sounds like you are already proud and giving here the positive reassurance she needs. Good Luck, and I am sure she will like anything.

I would get her a Chicken Soup for the Soul book. Depending on her personality, if that would not go over well, get her a Garfield comic book or something like that. They sell them in the regular book stores still. That would be something to make her smile during such a difficult time.

Your superb guess is to grant them a decision and discover out what their regulations are. Many locations do no longer want visitors because it may lead them to relapse. Letters could be ok. yet maximum locations have diverse regulations and that that they had exchange based on the sufferers and how extreme their circumstances are. So first, call and communicate over with an administrator to be sure information on a thank you to assist your chum. constantly save her on your prayers.

A card would be appropriate since they don't really want you giving them gifts since people can smuggle things in them so just limit the gift giving to a card and then give them a present when the person is released.

Pick up tons of magazines, fashion, diet, sporting, travel and throw in a coloring book and put them in a nice box. All the other gifts will go in the trash. The magazines will keep her mind of the withdrawal and maybe one of the articles will make her want to do something else with her life. You would be surprised all the mind numbing information they put in the magazines.
