is the cards from back then better or the cards released now?

That depends on your perspective. The older cards were more powerful but many of them are banned now. The newer cards are less powerful so now you have fewer power cards but those power cards have a less likely chance of being banned.

I personally like the new stuff better because now they are not only using some of the same mechanics from older cards (Madness, flash, echo, cumulative upkeep, morph, and storm) but they are also adding new mechanics that add a whole new level to the game (Convoke, dredge, replicate, forecast, hellbent, rescue, suspend, etc.) plus with the new sets they are bringing back some of the old cards with new twists such as Akroma, angel of fury.

I don't know. I seem to keep seeing the same cards over and over as the new sets come out. They just give them different names. I really like a lot of the older cards, but a lot of the best ones are banned.

Newer cards tend to be better because the older cards often get banned. However if your willing to run the risk and pay the money for the older cards I'd recommend them as long as they're not currently on the ban list.

I'll be the difficult one here. I would actually say both the old and the new. Just look at the new sets and everything you see is reprints or remakes of old cards. So you just take old and mix with new for a kickass deck. Me personally i like it all as a whole.

In the olden sets, you had big creatures, that were cheap costing, and had little to no drawbacks. You also had cards that gave its wielder an unfair advantage.
Now, you have a somewhat balanced system where anything is fair game...except when you're going against Dralnu/Teferi Combo...that deck is good...
